I used different brushes one after one during the grooming session. And my furry friend seemed to love it, enjoying the whole grooming-time a lot. Since then, I have been using these brushes consistently to complete the grooming needs of my horse.

• Coat type: When choosing horse brushes, understanding the coat type of horses is a crucial factor to keep in mind. Short and thin-coated horses need soft brushes for grooming. On the other hand, both soft (for sensitive body parts) and stiff brushes are needed (enabling convenient access to deeper body areas) for long and thick-coated horses.

These are mainly used to comb or brush the hairs of the mane and tail to eliminate the coiling and help remove the debris attached to the coiled hair. 

• Mane comb: Used to unwind the knots of mane.
• Detangling brushes: Just like the mane comb, detangling brushes are also used to uncoil the tangles or knots, but it works for both the mane and tail. 

7. Specialty Brushes

• Flick brush: These brushes are big and used to remove extra dust from a horse's coat.
• Water brush: A water brush is used to thoroughly wet the horse's body hair before starting the grooming steps. If you dampen the entire body first, it would be easier to clean trapped dirt from the fur.

• Neglecting brush size and thickness: Select different sizes of brushes based on different body parts. Try to purchase a small to medium-sized brush to clean the delicate areas (face and legs) of the body comfortably. For larger areas of the body, select a larger-sized brush.
