Confession time: I'm a Morgan horse addict.

There, I said it. And I'm not ashamed.

These sleek, spirited equines with their fiery eyes and impossibly graceful gaits have me wrapped around their tiny hooves. Maybe it's their intelligence, their versatility, or the way they seem to dance with their riders. Whatever the reason, I'm hooked.

And what better way to feed my Morgan obsession than by immersing myself in the electrifying atmosphere of a Morgan horse show? Forget stuffy art galleries and snoozy symphonies. For me, the real magic happens in arenas thrumming with the thunder of hooves and the electric crackle of anticipation.

Now, I know there are a ton of Morgan shows out there. But trust me, some are just different. They're the Super Bowls of the Morgan world, where the best of the best come to strut their stuff and leave you breathless with their talent.

So, my fellow Morgan maniacs (or curious newcomers!), let's dish the dirt on the 10 Morgan horses you absolutely have to witness before you kick the bucket.

Show 1. The Morgan Grand National & World Championship Morgan Horse 

The Morgan Grand National & World Championship is the most prestigious show for morgan horses. Let’s take a turn at this festive competition in detail:

a. Prestige and Significance

The show represents the top achievements of morgan horses as it is the largest morgan horse annual competition. Over 1000 fittest morgan horses fight for the honor of winning the “Grand National & World Championship”.

It crowns the best Morgan horses of different categories. Winning the grand national is the ultimate achievement for the breeds and their owners. This competition gathers world-class Morgan enthusiasts, breeders, and trainers, and helps to create bonding. It’s like a celebration!

b. Location, Dates, and Key Highlights

The competition has been running with glory for over 35 years. The participants of the competition are eagerly welcomed by the American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) with pride. Each year, the show is held in October. Since 1975, the show has ventured to State Fair Park, Oklahoma City.

It is a platform to showcase a breed’s athleticism, talents, and even beauty through different riding styles including saddle seat, Western pleasure, harness, Show-jumping, and more.

Show 2. The National Morgan Horse Show

Show 4. The Morgan Driving National Championships

This is a show about morgan horses to showcase their driving skill on a national level. Many athletic, finest morgan breeders attend this competition and fight for the honor of “National Championship”.

Here the audience can enjoy the classic excitement of carriage driving. Sometimes single horses perform, and you will also see horses taking part in the competition in pairs showcasing their perfect bonding.. It's a great platform to witness their teamwork. Besides, classic pleasure driving, there are categories like marathon, and so on. The competition is held in various locations in the United States, typically from July to October.

Show 5. The American Morgan Horse Association Youth Nationals

It is a horse program specially for the youth organized by The American Morgan Horse Association. They believe the youth should get the opportunity to perform on a national level And also learn more to develop their riding skill and knowledge. From 1978, the Youth of the year program has been running to encourage the youth. To participate in this competition,one should be aged at least 14.

Show 6. The Morgan Breeders & Exhibitors Nationals

If you are a morgan breeder, The Morgan Breeders and Exhibitors National is a great opportunity for you to show off your finest morgans and their capabilities. There in the exhibition, a lot of people attend to enrich their horse associations and communities and grow their eternal network. It can be a medium to make new contacts and meet new horse enthusiasts people. 

The competition takes place  in various United States locations, typically from September to October. Breeders and exhibitors participate in this competition with their top horses and gracefully compete in breeding and halter classes. They show their super skill and contribute to the Morgan legacy

Show 7. The Morgan Pleasure & Dressage National Championships

The Morgan Pleasure and Dressage National Championship began in 1989 and now it is one of the largest and respected shows in the world. The show takes place in Lexington, Kentucky in late July or early August. 

The participants of the championship can showcase their finest morgan horses through pleasure and dressage discipline. Pleasure riding brings out the beauty, elegance, and various gaits of their morgan horses. 

They compete throughout various western pleasure, saddle parks, and many other riding events. The audience also enjoys their talents and how well-balanced the morgan horses are in the dressage championship. 

Show 8. The Morgan Hunter Jumper National Championships

This show is held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.The time is typically late June or Early July. Here Morgan horses compete in English discipline. If you attend the show, you will notice, the horse tackle their hunter and jumper course with courage and with such power, speed. The movements are very smooth and effortless.

Show 9. The National Morgan Futurity

In late October or early November, there's a special show in Lexington, Kentucky.  The show emphasizes the next generation of the morgan horse breed. In this event, two or three years of foals take part in various competitions and showcase their charisma in different categories.

The little champs give a glimpse of their future. It's an exciting event where future champions are born, and it's a must-see for anyone who loves seeing the potential of the young horse.

Show 10. The American Morgan Horse Association Regional Championships

These shows happen four times a year, in spring and fall, in different parts of the country, like the East Coast, West Coast, South, and Midwest.

Think of each part of the country, horses and riders compete in different classes, walking, elegant riding, and various movements. They're all trying to win the “championship" trophy, just like kids might fight for the swing!

But the coolest part is the winner of each parts  gets to go competition, called the Grand National. People get go know new people, various equine discipline and see different skills from riders of their own arena.
